“At first I was somewhat skeptical about the benefits of Myofascial Release. Being a relatively new form of alternative medicine, I did not hear about the therapy from physicians or therapists, but rather by word of mouth.
As a swimmer, cyclist, and runner, I have experienced several injuries over the last year and was forced to slow down or skip workouts. Several of my friends in the triathlon community were being treated through Myofascial Release (MFR). And, after little progress with standard sports medicine (doctor’s visits and traditional physical therapy), I followed their recommendations. I was facing hip and knee pain and would need other treatment to finish an upcoming race. After a couple of weeks of MFR treatment, as my body’s connective tissue was being shifted into proper alignment, my workouts became less painful. As I ran, my strides felt smoother and my IT band pain at my knee subsided. From the therapy, my pelvis was also re-positioned and my hip pain went away while cycling. I completed five weeks of MFR and felt great on race day. I finished the 140.6 miles of an Ironman triathlon pain and injury free!”
