My story begins in June, 1996 with a complete hysterectomy. Fast forward 10 years to 2006 and I am being rushed to the ER by my husband due to nausea and abdominal pain. After enduring unbearable pain and waiting hours in the ER I was told by my physician that my X-ray showed a bowel obstruction. I was immediately rushed into emergency surgery where my wonderful surgeon found that I had a closed loop small bowel obstruction which required that eight inches of my small intestine be removed.
It was stated by my surgeon that the cause of my obstruction was due to scar tissue adhesions which resulted from the healing process that my body underwent after my hysterectomy.
Life settled down for a short while until May, 2009 when I started experiencing the same nausea after eating, severe pain and discomfort that I had in 2006. At this time my doctor ordered every medical test imaginable that might shed some light as to why I was experiencing these symptoms again. With all tests proving negative the next step was to have exploratory abdominal laparoscopic surgery. This resulted in four areas of scar tissue adhesions being removed. Scar tissue adhesions do not show up on any medical tests! In June, 2010 I underwent another laparoscopic surgery for the same reason. Needless to say I did not want to continue this cycle of surgery – adhesions – surgery to alleviate pain. More surgery meant more scar tissue adhesions!
Out of desperation I went to the internet to see if there might be an alternative method to help me get my life back. It was there I found Susan Jenkins, PT at Integrative Physical Therapy, Inc. From the moment I walked into Integrative Physical Therapy, met Susan and her wonderful staff I knew I was where I needed to be. With Susan’s expert knowledge, training and understanding of what was needed for my body to heal she skillfully applied Myofascial Release to my abdominal area. I continued her work at home with self-treatment exercises which Susan instructed me to do. Before I knew it I was on the road to recovery! My life has not been the same since being a client of hers and undergoing Myofascial Release. I am now able to eat without pain, I have gained 10 pounds and my mental disposition has improved tremendously. I no longer dwell every day on the possibility that I might have to return to the hospital for another surgery! Miracles Do Happen! There is hope and recovery from scar tissue adhesions! Thank you, Susan, from the bottom of my heart. You have been a Guardian Angel in my life! You have given my life back to me. May the Lord bless you each and every day!
